DeSci Evolution: From Science to Knowledge Co-Creation How to Empower Web3 Community Effects
The Evolution of DeSci: From Science to Knowledge Co-Creation
The core concept of DeSci is to provide equal access to science and knowledge for everyone, making the research process transparent and open to all. It aims to establish an ecosystem that encourages knowledge contributors to share their research findings while allowing anyone to freely access and iterate on this content.
This new research system is significantly different from traditional models.
However, one problem faced by DeSci is that it is too "pure" and noble, making it difficult to fully leverage the advantages of web3, namely community effects and an efficient economic system. If users cannot truly participate, it is hard to establish a sustainable mechanism.
Therefore, DeSci should not be limited to the realm of scientists, but should lower the threshold for ordinary people to access science. "Science" should expand to "knowledge," encompassing data from any field. This shift in pattern makes community participation possible, allowing web3 to maximize its value.
The ideal DeSci should be a pyramid structure, dividing participants in the knowledge-sharing full chain into different levels. Scholars at the top contribute core value, while community users at the bottom maintain the operation of the ecosystem and economic system.
BIO Protocol, as the cornerstone of DeSci, provides a decentralized scientific financial infrastructure. It supports decentralized organizations in biotechnology, (BioDAOs), offering comprehensive support in funding, liquidity, governance, and more. The curation mechanism of BIO allows the community to participate in selecting the most promising projects, and its reward mechanism and IP-token design fully motivate all parties involved.
The future development of DeSci should not be limited to scientific research, but rather to building a large dynamic knowledge base. By combining AI technology, DeSci can fragment knowledge, allowing everyone the opportunity to participate in knowledge co-construction. This approach is more in line with the community attributes of web3 and can form data organizations across various professional fields.
By collecting fragmented data through community co-construction and forming a large-scale dataset, an effect of 1+1>2 will be achieved. This requires first to establish a good community and increase the user base. Users can join the data organization by staking to contribute data and receive incentives. High-quality data will bring more benefits, thus forming a virtuous cycle.
This model allows users of different levels to participate, even users who contribute very little can attempt to earn basic incentives. This inclusive design helps attract more users to join, promoting the development of the entire ecosystem.
