[Chain News] PANews reported on August 12 that according to the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. and multiple law enforcement agencies jointly took action on July 24 to seize four servers, nine domains, and approximately $1 million in Bitcoin assets related to a Russian ransomware gang. The operation targeted BlackSuit and Royal ransomware, with the gang having extorted over $500 million since 2022 and illegally profiting at least $370 million. The frozen Bitcoin assets partially come from a $1.45 million ransom paid by victims in April 2023. U.S. officials stated that this move constitutes a significant blow to the gang's operations, and further investigations are ongoing, which may lead to more charges.
